Call me overly optimistic, but I'm dreaming of going out tomorrow and playing in the snow like a child again.
Now if I could just round up a few hundred friends, borrow some heavy equipment, and take a few days off from work, I might have a shot at challenging the residents of Bethel, Maine, who in 2008 built the world's tallest snowwoman. Olympia, as she was named, stood 122 feet, 1 inch tall and weighed an estimated 13 million pounds. She melted in July 2008, but her legacy lives on.

Impressive, eh? It was neat to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive, Badass. I bet it was quite a sight in person. It must have also been sad for to watch her melt.
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant to say "sad for all those who helped build her .. "
ReplyDeleteWild! Building snow "people"...brings back memories. I remember building igloos at the bottom of the driveway with the excess snow the plows pushed aside. Hope you had fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori. Yeah, snow has a way of bringing out good memories, doesn't it? Does anyone ever have any good rain or wind memories? :-) We did have fun, even if the snow was too powdery to build snowmen or snowwomen.
ReplyDeleteFantastic rain memory. My little friend (who lived 2 houses up from us) and I would go out barefood in the rain and walk around the neighborhood and splash in the puddles- guess we had to be around 7, 8 or 9. Would go home soaked! Kids today can't even go out alone anymore. Much less play by the street building igloos.
ReplyDeleteHA! Barefood - meant barefoot obviously!
